Student Information:
· Jostens will be on the RHS campus today from 9:21-10:18 and 1:18-2:09 to give students information about graduation caps and gowns, announcements, and other senior gear. Packets will be available after the meetings in the office. If you need additional information please contact Angela Silvernail.
· Pictures have been rescheduled for next Tuesday the 12th.
· Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2021. The survey will be given to students in Grades 6, 8, 10 and 12. The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to health risks and protective factors and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students' answers are anonymous. Most schools will administer the survey online. They have been instructed to disable any recording, keystroke tracking, and video capture of school-issued devices used to take the survey. We ask that you do the same to ensure anonymous and honest participation. A Parent and Student Notification Letter is available on the school website for more information about the Healthy Youth Survey.
· The Girl Scout Troop will be running a food drive during the month of October. Some items that are needed are: Rice-a-Roni, Hamburger Helper, canned soup, pancake mix, canned milk (not condensed), canned meat/fish, and peanut butter. There is a drop off box by the high school office.
· We are observing Banned Books Week this week. Banned Books week is designed to celebrate our freedom to read... well, whatever you want. Harry Potter was challenged by parents for removal from schools because it allegedly "glorified witchcraft." It has topped the list of banned books for years. Virginia Walter of the American Library Association explained, "Many of these people feel that the books are door-openers to topics that desensitize children to very real evils in the world."
· On this day in history 1962: "Dr. No", 1st James Bond film based on the novel by Ian Fleming and starring Sean Connery and Ursula Andress, premieres in London
· Quote for the week: "Be yourself; everyone else in already taken."
