Student Information:

• Jostens will be on the RHS campus tomorrow from 9:21-10:18 and 1:18-2:09 to give students information about graduation caps and gowns, announcements, and other senior gear.   Packets will be available after the meetings in the office.  If you need additional information please contact Angela Silvernail.
• Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2021. The survey will be given to students in Grades 6, 8, 10 and 12.  The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to health risks and protective factors and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students' answers are anonymous. Most schools will administer the survey online. They have been instructed to disable any recording, keystroke tracking, and video capture of school-issued devices used to take the survey. We ask that you do the same to ensure anonymous and honest participation. A Parent and Student Notification Letter is available on the school website for more information about the Healthy Youth Survey.
• We are observing Banned Books Week this week. Banned Books week is designed to celebrate our freedom to read... well, whatever you want. The official celebration was launched in 1982, in response to a surge in banned and challenged books. According to the American Library Association, over 11,300 books have been challenged by parents, schools, and librarians since then. When it comes to the banned books themselves, there are some notorious titles like the high school staple To Kill a Mockingbird, which was banned for its themes of rape, use of profanity, and racial slurs.
• On this day in history 1927: Sculpting begins on the face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills National Forest of South Dakota. It would take another 12 years for the granite images of four of America's most revered presidents—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt—to be completed.
• Quote for the week:  "Be yourself; everyone else in already taken."
